Artist statement:
I’m a painter specializing in oil, with a focus on figurative and realistic styles, and I love painting portraiture.
In my work, I like to blend abstraction with the realism of the portrait. My art often explores the balance between structure and spontaneity, both in painting and in life.
What intrigues me most when painting a face are all the little expressions and features that are often subtle but can tell a whole story behind the portrait.
BIO
Daria Callie is a contemporary artist working primarily in oils. Originally from Eastern Europe, she currently lives and maintains a full-time studio in Porto, Portugal. She has been creating and sharing her painting process on YouTube since 2016, where she teaches painting techniques and documents her artistic process through educational and time-lapse videos for an audience of art enthusiasts worldwide. Her channel has received nearly 40 million views and earned her a YouTube Silver Creator Award.
Her paintings have been exhibited at notable venues including the European Museum of Modern Art (MEAM) in Barcelona, Spain, La Galleria Pall Mall in London, UK, and Seven House Gallery in Brooklyn, New York. Her artworks are also held in private collections in the United States, Germany, France, and Japan.
In addition to her studio practice, Callie has collaborated with Netflix on promotional campaigns for Bridgerton and Stranger Things. Her work and career have been featured in publications including Design Scene, Komsomolskaya Pravda, The Daily Front Row, and Periodista Digital, as well as other online publications covering art, design, fashion, and culture. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Belarusian National Technical University.
